OXFORD, Miss. - Robin Street, lecturer in journalism at the University of Mississippi, has been named the Public Relations Educator of the Year by the Southern Public Relations Federation.
Robin Street Street was nominated for the award by the Public Relations Association of Mississippi, which previously had named her as Educator of the Year for Mississippi. The latest award was presented Oct. 6 during the organization's annual conference. "According to our judges, there was no doubt who should win," said Nancy Borden, SPRF committee chair. "The judges commented that her great teaching and advising abilities blew them away, and that her biography should appear in a dictionary to define what an educator of the year should be." "All of the candidates were outstanding," said Adam Kelley, SPRF president. "But Robin's passion for teaching and dedication to lifelong learning truly embody what the SPRF Educator of the Year award is and should be about." "Robin Street has worked diligently to provide students at Ole Miss with the best preparation for careers in public relations," Norton said. "This recent recognition is confirmation that professionals and her peers recognize how successful her efforts have been." Street also won a first-place "Lantern" award for feature writing and two awards of excellence for feature writing and internal publications in the SPRF "Lantern" competition for public relations projects.
